The chassis offers virtually unlimited possibilities in terms of layout, whilst its low unladen weight allows for high payloads. Its high rigidity provides excellent driving characteristics. The chassis is also completely flat and its components are located internally wherever possible. The perfect base for every conceivable body type or application.
Drivers enjoy stable road handling thanks to the rigidity of the chassis and the air-sprung Stabilink rear suspension. The front wheel suspension offers the perfect balance between damping, lateral stability and rigidity. An eight-tonne front axle with two-leaf parabolic suspension is delivered as standard. For heavier applications, the nine-tonne front axle with three-leaf parabolic suspension can be used for maximum comfort. A 7.5-tonne front axle with single-leaf suspension is a new addition – perfect for applications where every kilo counts.
In developing the chassis, our aim was to create as much space as possible. For maximum flexibility, the layout of the chassis can be arranged in many different ways. The exhaust gas after-treatment systems can be placed to the right or the left on the chassis, and can even be separated. Large or small fuel tanks, exhaust pipe mounted on the left, the right or vertically – many variations are possible. On tractor versions, the AdBlue tank has a practical placement underneath the cabin, with the batteries at the rear of the chassis. This allows plenty of space for hydraulic tanks or fuel tanks, for a total volume of no less than 1,500 litres.
All rigid chassis have a carefully chosen hole pattern for maximum ease of body installation. Construction vehicles can be equipped with console brackets at the factory, making it easier to mount, for example, a tipper. The optional Body Builder Module (BBM) is a standardised connection between the vehicle and the superstructure, and it is entirely separate from the other vehicle functions. BBM provides safe access to a wide range of vehicle signals and customer-specific control functions. This allows benefits such as a shorter installation time and smooth operation of the vehicle itself.
Predictive Cruise Control and Predictive Shifting (optional for models with PACCAR MX-11 or MX-13 engines) are new innovative technologies. Advanced GPS technology is used to pinpoint the exact location of the vehicle and to determine the expected driving conditions over the coming one to two kilometres. The system ‘thinks ahead’, taking into account inclines and descents. Within the specified range, Predictive Cruise Control determines the ideal speed, whilst Predictive Shifting selects the ideal gear. Thanks to these systems, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions can be reduced by 3%, especially on hilly stretches.
Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), which prevents jackknifing or overturning, is available as standard, along with an advanced emergency braking system (AEBS) which comes into effect in emergency situations where the driver fails to act. For maximum safety, the CF is moreover equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) as standard.* This reduces the pressure on the driver and increases the safety of other road users.
The special ‘Silent’ version opens up new transport possibilities in urban environments. By implementing a range of smart technologies, including special engine software and an encapsulated gearbox, the noise in Silent Mode is limited to a maximum of 72 dB (A). This makes the vehicle ideal for loading or unloading in areas where sound restrictions are in place during the evening, night or early hours of the morning. The CF Silent is available as a tractor or rigid unit with a PACCAR MX-11 engine.
* For vehicles with two or three axles and rear air suspension. For all other vehicles, excluding the FAK, FAQ, FAT Construction and FAD Construction models, ACC (with FCW and AEBS) is available as an option.
